Is it possible to live by the old ideals of the Samurai in this ‘information’ age?

In Japan the warrior class was also known as the Samurai, also called bushi (hence bushido). They formed a class in and of themselves during the 9th and 12th centuries.

The Samurai were fighting men, skilled in the martial arts. Samurai had extensive skills in the use of the bow and arrow and the sword. They could just as likely have killed you with their bare hands. These warriors were men who lives by Bushido; it was their way of life.

The Samurai loyalty was unsurpassed. They were trustworty and honest. They lived frugal lives with no interest in riches and materials things, but rather they were interested in honor and pride. They were men of true valor. A Samurai would try to be as helpful as possible and would never hurt (or kill) anyone without a reason. This shows that peace, above everything else, is the way forward!

So here I am, trying my best to live a peaceful life in this world of violence and betrayel. I do my best to stay as peaceful as possible but is it really possible in todays greedy world? It is a good question but no matter what the answer is, I will continue to follow this code and all of the righteous ways it encourages.

It is a good practise, influenced by Zen Buddhism and it really does make you a better person

fighting spirit

vignet-fighter.jpg

Us, we karate & jiu-jitsu fighters we men of the mat.
We are hard as a rock, we have the Samurai spirit and show no regret!

We train from the day into the night.
There is rarely a time we see sunlight.

We shed no tears, we show no pain.
We've got nothing to loose but all to gain.

This is not a sport but a lifestyle they say.
For it doesn't stop off that mat but it leads through the day.

We fight like dragonflies when we get our chance.
But it all can be lost, all if were not in our stance.

Blood sweat and tears are shed every day.
No reward is given, no publicity, no pay.

How can you do this, you'r crazy they say...
Nothing no response... there is no reason nor way…
